I’m Within Striking Distance!
On January 13, 2021, all four of the candidates in my election had to report their campaign contributions and expenses from the past year to the Maryland State Board of Elections. These reports were then published. I wanted to share with you the data from these reports because during any election, each campaigns’ finances are an important (but not decisive) indicator on how well that candidacy is doing. So please take a look:
|Cash on Hand on 1/8/2020||Cash on Hand on 1/13/2021|
|Delegate Kathleen Dumais (18 year incumbent)||$22,207.45||$45,070.80|
|Delegate David Fraser-Hidalgo (7+ year incumbent)||$15,702.04||$28,986.50|
|Delegate Lily Qi (2 year incumbent)||$29,737.89||$45,764.25|
|Saqib Ali (campaigning for 6+ months)||-$790.81||$42,214.70|
When we drill-down deeper, we can see how all the candidates’ cash-on-hand fluctuated throughout the year:
You see that red line? That’s my cash-on-hand. I started out far behind all three of the incumbent delegates. But within a few months I surpassed one of them and am very close to the other two. That makes me a strong candidate. And it’s only because hundreds of people like you have supported my campaign.
The next campaign finance reporting deadline is January 12, 2022. Until then, I need your continued help in fortifying my campaign’s finances. Here is the link where you can donate online. Instructions for mailing a check can also be found there. Please spread the word!
